A Pilgrimage to a Data Centre

In Potters Bar, thirteen miles north of central London, a group of campaigners have organized to oppose the building of a data centre. The current plan is to build it over land that not long ago was considered green belt. The council of Hertfordshire however, has re-classified it as grey belt and now developers can build on what today is still productive farmland.

The 85 acres in dispute are well used by the Potters Bar community as well as by foxes, muntjac, rabbits, horses and pets. Fleur Albrecht, Odette Garvey and Jo Godoplhin, who are part of the campaign, all mention the fact that Potters Bar is surrounded by green belt as a main reason for why they love living here.
